Pregnant & Setting Up the Nursery? 3 Tips on Painting the Interior Walls

If you are pregnant and getting the nursery ready this is an exciting time. If you are planning to paint the nursery, there are many different things you can do. First, you have to consider the type of paint and then the color. There are also different techniques that can be used to make the room unique. To help you get started, below are three tips you should find helpful.

Choose Safe Paint

If you are planning to paint the room yourself, make sure you choose paint that has no volatile organic compounds (VOC's). This type of paint emits fumes, such as formaldehyde, in the room as the paint dries. If you inhale these fumes you can become sick and the fumes may hurt your unborn baby. It is also important that you keep the room well ventilated while painting, such as opening windows, and wear a face mask.

Once the paint dries, however, it is fine and will leave no kind of chemicals in the air for your baby to breathe in.

Choose Pleasant Colors

The color of the paint can be difficult to choose especially if you do not know if you are having a girl or a boy. You should choose a color that you think your baby will like, such as bright colors. Pastel colors also work well if you would rather have something more subdued.

In the beginning, baby's only see and black and white but, in a few months, they will see colors and have good vision. If you have already chosen the things for your baby's bed, as well as furniture, etc., consider the color of these when choosing the color for the walls.

Consider Techniques

There are many different types of techniques available with interior painting. If you hire a professional to do this job for you, they will know of these. Two techniques available include:

Stenciling: If you choose stenciling, you will choose stencils in different shapes. A brush or sponge is used to dab color inside the shape. You can use more than one shape, if you prefer. You could use this to put a border around the room or stencil something fun on one wall.

Sponging: If you choose sponging, the interior painter uses a sponge to paint the walls with. They first dip the sponge into the paint you chose and then dab the sponge on the walls. This can make the room look interesting and the sponged areas will be darker than the main color.

Talk with an interior painter through services like Albrecht & Son LLC about this information and they can give you many more details.
